Quick answer: Add a word or phrase to the Freeze keywords panel before running the humanizer, and it stays exactly as written in the output.
What freeze keywords do
Freeze keywords tell the humanizer: do not touch this. Common cases:
- Proper nouns — names of people, products, companies, places.
- Technical terms — domain-specific vocabulary that has no good synonym.
- Brand names — when you do not want the rewrite to swap them.
- Citations and references — names you have to preserve verbatim.
Add a freeze keyword in 2 steps
- Open the Humanizer.
- Click Freeze keywords (usually next to the input panel). Type the word or phrase and press Add.
Add as many as you need before clicking Humanize.
Note: Free anonymous users can freeze up to 3 keywords. Registered free users and all paid plans get unlimited freeze keywords.
What gets frozen, exactly
- Exact spelling and casing. Case matters — "GPTinf" and "gptinf" are different entries.
- Single words or multi-word phrases. Both work.
- Plural and singular are separate. Freeze "datasets" and "dataset" if both appear.
Use cases that work well
- A research paper that mentions "Heteroskedasticity-consistent standard errors" — freeze the whole phrase so the rewrite leaves it intact.
- A product spec mentioning "Postgres 15," "Redis," "Kafka" — freeze each one.
- An essay quoting a specific author — freeze the author's name.
Use cases that do not help
- Common words. Freezing "the," "and," or "of" does not change the output noticeably.
- Whole sentences. Freeze keywords are for words and short phrases. To preserve a whole sentence, use Selective Rephrase on the other sentences instead.
- AI-prone phrases. Freezing "in conclusion" or "it is important to note" defeats the point — you would want the humanizer to rewrite those.
